I Eulogize My Grandfather’s Life and Fishing
When a public figure passes away, the funeral can become very impersonal and just a ritual. I did not want that to happen to my grandfather. This amazing man served as our town mayor for over thirty years. There were many things one could say about his honesty, dependability, and skill in his position, and some of the men giving eulogies did talk along those lines. When it was my time, I referred to his love of fishing and the many hours we shared together sitting quietly in some of his favorite spots. He didn’t seem nearly as interested in catching the fish as he was in being with me. At least that’s how he made me feel.
